Spring 2024: Offerings & Policy Changes
Greetings to you in this beautiful spring weather! Is this second fool's spring, or is it the early one we were promised by Punxsutawney Phil? I suppose we'll see, but it certainly has me considering the goals I set at the turn of the calendar year and feeling ready to take the next step in implementing them.
THE OFFERING
This March marks three years of this practice! To celebrate, I am ordering hoodies from local darlings BadkneesTs. Consider a hoodie for yourself as a way to continue supporting me and my massage practice beyond the sessions on my table. Wearing my logo around will not only amplify your incredible word-of-mouth marketing skills, it will also serve as another tool for keeping you comfortable out in the world! As one client said, hoodies are “so warm, so practical.” Please use this form to claim your preferred garment and size before March 7th, my planned date to submit orders to Badknees!
IN MY HANDS
Back to my planned goals for the year: This Winter Solstice I received Abdominal Massage from my colleague Julie Mirise and was reminded just how incredibly effective this work is, especially when we receive it from someone else. I've spent the months since our session feeling more deeply tuned into my core muscles, feeling less aching in my sacroiliac joints, and experiencing the most mild menstrual symptoms of my life. Since this was the second Winter Solstice in a row I booked myself a bodywork session (what a gift! 2022 was Hot Stone Massage with Ryane Hawkins at Terra Sana Wellness), I planned to make abdominal massage a continued practice through this year’s solstices and equinoxes. I'm looking forward to having that nourishing work planned out because another bodywork goal I set for this year is to try my first ten-series of Rolfing Structural Integration therapy with local treasure Allison Distler. If you've never heard of Rolfing before I encourage you to read more about it here, and know that my anticipated need for tenderness between these sessions comes from hearing of how firm the pressure for Rolfing can be - I may be able to dish out a firm hand but it is not my preference to receive one! Wish me luck, and if you’re feeling inspired, let’s discuss your own bodywork goals for the year. Might I recommend Abdominal Therapy??
IN THE SPACE
The Biomat is back! For those of you who have been waiting and wondering when I will get a table warmer, the wait is over. I found a pre-owned Biomat Mini here in town for a good price and am happy to be offering its warmth for all sessions unless contraindicated. Feedback from clients so far has been that it provides another layer of depth of relaxation, if for no other reason than because of the warmth it provides. Read more about the Biomat and its intended properties on my blog, and consider upgrading your sessions with some extra time to soak in the benefits.
This issue is prompting me to make a move I have been considering for a long time: As of June 1st, I will no longer be accepting gratuity by credit card. This decision comes in light of a few factors:
HSA cards have recently been bypassing the gratuity screen at checkout.
My credit card processor charges 3%+ per transaction, which adds up throughout the year! Tips simply get eaten up in fees.
I would like to move on from the awkwardness of offering the gratuity screen to clients who may not have considered gratuity otherwise. While I greatly appreciate those of you who have offered and wish to continue leaving gratuity after your appointments, there are others who for various reasons do not, and I no longer wish to push an unintentional pressure on anyone.
Regardless of your method of payment, gratuity will now only be accepted by cash. We will take until June 1st to settle into this new habit. Thank you so much for your understanding!
ON THE WEB
In the spirit of convenience, gift certificates may now be purchased online, without invoices! Thank you to all my gift givers for your patience here. You can find the purchasing portal on the Menu page of my website.
IN MY HEART
I'd like to take some time to highlight my husband and partner Bryce, who this winter announced his intentions to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail in 2025. This is an incredible undertaking and requires dedicated conditioning and preparedness in order to complete the 2,200 mile trek all at once. I am so proud of all the effort he is putting in and yes, he is lucky to have a massage therapist on his side through the process. ;) It’s going to be a big adventure and will coincide with his 35th birthday. If you are interested in following along on his training journey and seeing updates once he makes it to the trail, you can follow along on Youtube and read his story in his own words through this portal.
Thank you as always for your support, for reading my written words, and for being a part of my orbit!
